Average rating obtained byCe classement de Castlerock Golf Club est la moyenne des 4 obtenues à partir www.golfshake.comI have to admit that I was a bit disappointed with the first 3 holes here, but I was delighted with what followed. After a bland start, the 4th is a fantastic par 3 with out of bounds (and a railway line) all down the right, as with the following par 5. The course then wends it's way through the dunes, with the most punishing rough of any course we played on our Northern Irish tour. Some great elevated tees and greens. We were unfortunate to have a consistent rain throughout our round, which obviously made the course more difficult, but it's a really good golf course. The clubhouse and Pro Shop were hugely welcoming and accommodating. A must play if you're on the Causeway coast.(Round played: Apr 2015 - Score: 93 Handicap: 13.9)
Average rating obtained byCe classement de Castlerock Golf Club est la moyenne des 23 obtenues à partir www.top100golfcourses.co.ukWe had the three seasons in one day experience here. But I can honestly say that of all the links courses I have played this ranks only below Turnberry in quality. The dunes can be enormous and knowing your way around them key. So it would be nice if the course guide had a bit of pro advice in it for those of us who cannot stretch to caddies. The negative comments below completely amaze me, this is a very very strong links where placement is key and club selection off the the tees absolutely critical. The over all care that has gone into the course (although the greens were slow for a links course) and the obvious pride and family focus that has gone into the place is wonderful. My tour now heads to Portstewart and Royal Portrush and if they are ranked higher then my reports will even more glowing. So if you are a links fan some of the views and vistas and dramatic sweeps of Castlerock will take your breath away.
Average rating obtained byCe classement de Castlerock Golf Club est la moyenne des 2 obtenues à partir www.ukgolfguide.comCastlerock gave us the perfect links golf experience during a recent golf tour in Northern Ireland. It may be less well known that some of its prestigious neighbours but the course is outstanding and the scenery spectacular. The huge sand dunes through which many holes make this proper seaside golf, and the greens were among the best I've played on this year. The clubhouse is simple but welcoming, and the dining room is about 12 feet from the back of the 18th green - great for watching your mates hole out, bad for thinned approach shots! After the first three or four holes climb over the hill, you get to two brilliant holes that are stretched right alongside the railway tracks. A small slice = out of bounds. Par-three then par-five, both are stern tests. The 7th and 8th are strong par-4s, while the 9th was perhaps my favourite; it's a long par-3 (200+), almost totally enclosed by dunes that give it a sort of stadium feel.If you've got time, play the 9-hole Bann Course as well, it's a gem. The proximity to the likes of Royal Portrush and Portstewart make Castlerock the ideal choice for golf tourists in the area, and you can stay easily in Derry or Portrush itself. This is among the most enjoyable courses I've played in a long time, big thumbs up.
