Swindon Golf Club - Now "The Staffordshire"
Just played here yesterday with my friends in a golf society. Since playing here the last time it has been renamed and is now "The Staffordshire" and the front and back nines have been reversed. It still remains one of my favourite courses and has one of my favourite golf holes as well. The course was in excellent condition, the greens were a little hard and fast but very true and perfectly fair. The fairways nicely mown and well defined. It isn't the longest course but it does require accuracy. The par 3s are all a challenge and a par is far from a certainty. It is a little hilly but not too bad. The food and drink was excellent in quality, quantity and price, and the clubhouse very welcoming. I don't think you will be disappointed playing here

  • Bloxwich Golf Club
Good test of golf for any Handicap
Bloxwich Golf Club recently held the Staffordshire Amateur Championship and it seemed like a good idea to visit the course soon after the event to see the course at it's best. Although early in the year, 1st week in June the course was in excellent condition. Members said that the weather had not been favourable for growth but I have to say that to look at the course you would not necessarily reach that conclusion. The fairways were excellent and the greens if not fast for Professionals were fast enough for me. Unusually five Par 3's on the course but easy to miss plateau greens and ruin your card by taking bogey or worse. Par 5's, of which there are three are considered reachable in regulation and might offer birdie opportunities but the key to the course difficulty are a number of long and testing Par 4 holes that really test both your length and course management. Overall well worth a visit with good changing facilities and fully stocked Professional Shop and a friendly, welcoming Clubhouse with a wide choice of Ales and value for money food. Played the course from Yellow Tees.
