Having beaten off competition from Spain, Portugal , Germany and the Netherlands to be chosen as host of the Ryder Cup in 2018, France has put itself right back on the Golfing map.

With over 400,000 registered players and more than 550 top quality golf courses, golf in France is in great shape. The huge variety of landscape in France means that there is guaranteed to be a golf package for all abilities and tastes.

When thinking about a golf holiday in France, it’s hard to look past the elegant and chic regions of the south such as Provence and the Côte d’Azur  where the sun will almost certainly be shining all year round. However there is so much more diversity to French golf than first meets the eye giving golfers an array of fantastic choices. Other popular options include playing in the lower reaches of the Rhone-Alps  or alongside the coastal cliffs in Brittany-Bretagne.

It must be said that golf holidays in the south of France are more expensive than other regions however with the gorgeous weather and luxurious rooms combined with a range of fantastic courses, you really do get what your money’s worth.

The Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort, near the delightful old Provençal village of Tourrettes, epitomises all that is great about golfing holidays in the south of France. With two championship golf courses ( Le Riou and Le Château), a spa of the highest quality, and the choice of staying in a luxurious apartment or a top of the range hotel; it really is the holiday of a lifetime. The class that the whole resort oozes is portrayed on the course where you are met by impeccable greens and fairways.

Another incredible resort in the region, 25km further south west of Terre Blanche, is Saint Endréol. Again equipped with a spa and a choice of top quality accommodation; the course itself is shaped around the beautiful, diverse landscape creating various challenges. There are spectacular views of the River Endre and the ‘Rocher de Roquebrune’ which add to the great experience had by all.

Despite being better known as a destination for skiing holidays, golf holidays in the Alps have become more and more popular over the last decade. This is due to the variety of world-class golf courses on offer and the tremendous resorts where they are based. The epic scenery and massive variety of outdoor activities available further enhance the attraction of golf holidays in the Alps region.

The Evian Masters Golf Club  is the host of the Ladies Evian Championship – which is now recognised as the 5th major on the LPGA Tour. The Cabel B. Robinson designed course offers glorious views of the surrounding lakes and mountains and a complete renovation of the fairways and greens was completed for the start of 2013.

The resort is home to first-class hotels, the Royal and the Ermitage, which offer a free 5 minute shuttle service to the course. With top of the range restaurants and bars, Europe’s largest themed casino and numerous outdoor activities on offer in the resort, you can guarantee that you’ll never be looking for something to do!

Golf du Gouverneur, home to two 18 hole courses ( Le Breuil and Montaplan), and Golf & Country Club de Maison Blanche, an exclusive members club, are two of the other best courses in the Alps region.

The region is also hugely popular with outdoor enthusiasts – with hiking treks and climbing readily available and of the highest quality. The landscape of the region really encapsulates all that is great about the region and gives your golfing holiday a bit of a twist!

There are two things that a golfer can be sure about when taking a golf holiday in France. Firstly, the food is of the highest premium. Most clubs and resorts have their own gourmet restaurants to enjoy at the end of your round, complete with wine cellars that are filled to the brim! Secondly, culture is everywhere – you’ll even find many of the courses have been built in the lands of a beautiful Estate or impressive Chateau.

With its huge array of varied courses set amongst such diverse backdrops, golf holidays in France are of the highest quality. The elegance and class of the courses enhanced by the history, cuisine and weather on offer truly makes for the perfect golf holiday. If you’re looking for something that bit extra special, have a look at the excellent golf packages  we have on offer!

  • Golf Country-Club de Bossey
    Gret Views over Geneva
Tough course for regular amateur with a lot of elevation changes. The 14th must be one of the greatest par 3 in Europe! Must play in the Geneva area!

    Challenging, perfectly maintained golf course
Challenging course with perfectly maintained fairways and greens. Each hole has its own unique challenges. We combined AA Saint-Omer with CC Wimereux during the same weekend. Highly recommended! Hope to be back soon.
