South of Dublin on the east coast of Ireland is where you will find the golf course at the Woodbrook Golf Club. Nestled in the historic county of Wicklow the surrounding local area is peppered with a number of further excellent courses including those at the Powerscourt and Bray Golf Clubs. The fact that the site is just over 20km to the south of the city centre of Dublin means this is a great destination for a golfing getaway with plenty of things for both golfers and non-golfers to see and do.

The club was originally created in 1921 by Sir Stanley Cochrane however it was not affiliated with the Golfing Union of Ireland until 1926. Over the duration of its life the natural environment as well as the work of a number of designers have fused together to create this interesting and unique course which is perched upon some cliff tops. One of said designers is a certain Peter McEvoy who has worked on courses across Ireland as well as elsewhere in Europe such as Spain and Italy.

Of a unique style the course, on paper, is of a parkland style however its location atop some sea cliffs makes for an interest combination with the natural elements, particularly the wind. Comprising of 18 holes the course here measures some 6025 metres from the white tees and has a par of 72. Features here are beautifully landscaped and maintained and players of varying standards are sure to enjoy the tough yet interesting challenge that this course presents.

Facilities at the club are fair and the welcoming clubhouse is home to a bar and restaurant area for players to enjoy after their rounds. There is also a well-stocked professional golf shop offering an array of merchandise, equipment and apparel. The club is also home to a resident PGA professional who is on hand to offer help and advice regarding purchases as well as golf lessons and tuition by prior arrangement.

The club here has a strong member presence which is a credit to its quality and maturity therefore tee times for visitors can be somewhat restricted. However if booked far enough in advance there should be a suitable time for everyone. Green fee rates here reflect the quality of the course and its facilities and offer good value for money when this is considered.

Access to the club by road from much of the rest of Ireland is good and links to Northern Ireland as well as England, Wales and Scotland as well as further afield are plentiful from the nearby bustling transport hub that is Dublin. Accommodation options in and around the local area are plentiful and there should be something to suit all tastes and budgets.
