Four kilometres to the West of Dungarvan in the South East of Ireland is the highly acclaimed golf course at West Waterford Golf and Country Club. The course is overlooked by the nearby Drum Hills which offer great vistas of the course and vice versa. Its location just minutes away from the beautiful Dungarvan bay and the coast could mislead people into thinking of this as a links course however the opposite is true as this is a fine example of an Irish parkland course.

Opened for play in 1993 and designed by the legendary Eddie Hackett this course is set on some of the most picturesque land in Ireland and players here are never short of amazing views on which to feast their eyes.

Measuring 5922 metres in length this 18-hole, Par 72 course has plenty to offer to players of varying strengths. In terms of layout, the course is laid in two loops of nine which both end near to the clubhouse making it easy to enjoy some refreshments straight after your round. The use of the natural surroundings of trees and hills works brilliantly here and multiple dog legs combined with maturing and well-kept greens make a challenging yet enjoyable course for many. Tees, fairways and greens here should not disappoint here either as the quality is first class.

Facilities at West Waterford are unfussy but will provide players with everything that they will need. The clubhouse has both a bar and restaurant which can provide players with refreshments after their time on the course. There is also a pro-shop on site and from there trolleys and buggies can be hired. It should be noted that due to limited availability players wanting a buggy should book in advance so as to avoid disappointment.

Tee times at West Waterford for visitors are widely available and are spread well across the course of the day. In terms of green fee rates the charges here are very reasonable, making this a great choice for those wanting to play on a great course without the usual high prices. Throughout the year the club offers a number of discounts and offers and special rates are available for large parties and societies. The club is blessed to have a good mixture of members and visitors and throughout the year it hosts a number of open competitions for all to enjoy simultaneously.

West Waterford and nearby Dungarvan are relatively well connected with regards to transport and travel to the rest of Ireland is quite straightforward.  The nearest, large airport is that of Cork which is around  an hour away by car and the Rosslare Ferry Service is around 90 minutes away also. Accommodation in and around the local area is plentiful and the club has a number of connections with some of the most popular establishments.
