The golf course at Waterford Golf Club can be found on the outskirts of the city of Waterford. Although the name would suggest that it is in County Waterford that is actually not the case and it can be found across the River Suir in County Kilkenny near to the border. The location of this course is truly unique and the vistas and panoramas that can be had from here are simply stunning and sights include Slievenamon and the Comeragh Mountains.

Originally founded in 1912 the golf club has contracted the skills of a number of renowned designers and architects to work on the course here over the years. The front nine holes were designed by well-known Willie Park who was twice an Open Champion and the back nine by the infamous James Braid who is probably better known for his designs across the water in Scotland.

This 18 hole course is of a parkland style and measures 5725 metres with a par of 71. Expect elevated tees and tiered greens and fairways on this course as well as excellent putting surfaces and the presence of quite a number of trees. Features here work beautifully together to provide players of most levels with entertainment and challenge and, most importantly, an enjoyable round of golf.

Facilities at this club are very good and include a bar and restaurant for players to enjoy. There is also club, trolley and buggy hire available here and during summer months a caddy service is available however prior booking is recommended. Practice facilities at the club include a driving range and putting green.

Tee times for visitors to this course are fair and there should be a suitable time for all, it is recommended that visitors avoid the course on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons and all day on Sundays as these times are reserved for members. Green fee rates here are very reasonable and change somewhat with the season however they still over good value for money.

The club and course are relatively well connected to much of the rest of Ireland and Waterford has some well-established transport links to the rest of the country. Accommodation options in and around the local area are plentiful also and there should be something to suit all tastes and budgets nearby.
