Nestled at the feet of the Galtee Mountains in central southern Ireland is the golf course at Tipperaray Golf Club. Found in the county of the same name, the location of this course is truly unique and the surrounding scenery is truly unique. Lying next to the route towards the picturesque Glen of Aherlow the club can be found in some of the finest Irish countryside.

The club was founded in 1896 however it wasn’t until 1939 that it moved to its present site. Originally the course was just 9 holes however, in 1994 the course was extended to the full 18 holes and the opening of the lovingly refurbished clubhouse occurred more recently in 2001.

Of a parkland style, this 18 hole course measures some 5858 metres from the white tees and has a par of 72. This is a great course which is an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all levels and skill sets and one that can be enjoyed time after time. Features include mature woodland and trees and some naturally undulating terrain which combined with views makes for a great golfing experience.

Facilities at this club are fair and players are able to enjoy a drink or bite to eat in the onsite bar and restaurant. Practice facilities are also good here meaning that players can hone their skills and techniques before taking on the main course.

Tee times for visitors to this golf course are fair and have better general availability during weekdays although some weekend slots are also available. With regards to green fee rates these are reasonable and offer good value for money. As with all golf courses it is highly recommended to book slots in advance so as to avoid disappointment and this is especially the case during the summer months.

Thanks, in part, to its central location in the South of the country the club is well connected to much of the rest of Ireland. The nearest major city and transport hub is that of Limerick which is just over 40 km to the North West of the site. Accommodation options within Tipperary are plentiful and a good choice for golf lovers is Dundrum House Hotel which is home to the County Tipperary Golf Club and is a perfect choice for visitors wanting to experience more than one golf course.
