Located in central southern Ireland is the golf course at Thurles Golf Club. Lying in County Tipperary, the course here lies just under twenty kilometres to the north of the town of Cashel. The town of Cashel is steeped in history and is a must visit for those with a keen interest in the subject. Furthermore the town is also well known locally for its ecclesiastical appeal and which may be of interest for some visitors.

The club here was founded in 1909 and has a rich and interesting history having recently celebrated its centenary. Throughout the duration of the clubs life it has seen a number of courses however the most recent redevelopment occurred in 1999 and was undertaken by the revered Peter McEvoy who was not only a great golfer but now a fantastic architect.

Of a parkland style this is an eighteen hole course, measuring just under 5590 metres from the yellow tees it has a par of 72. The course is made up a great variety of holes which should test and challenge even the most experienced of golfers. Accuracy is essential for many of the holes here and cleverly placed bunkers and water features provide a fair amount of challenge. Overall this is an enjoyable course which is sure to appeal to golfers of varying skill levels.

Facilities at this club are good and include a welcoming bar and restaurant which players can enjoy after their rounds. Also, there are a number of meeting rooms and there are also squash and snooker clubs at the site. There is also a well-stocked professional golf shop offering a number of international brands and the clubs resident professional will be on hand to offer help and advice to players.

Tee times for visitors to this course have fair availability and there should be a time to suit all if booked far enough in advance. Green fee rates here change somewhat with the season however they are generally very reasonable and offer good value for money.

Thanks to its central location, road links to the rest of Ireland are relatively good and visitors should have no problem getting here. With regards to accommodation, the club has a number of partnerships with local providers which encompass everything from small guesthouses to larger hotels and there is sure to be something to appeal to everyone in the local area.

this club does so many things well, condition of fairways , but there were a few strange things like the awful condition of the greens and the "driving range".
