Perched on the Sutton Peninsula on the east coast of  Ireland is the stunning golf course at the Sutton Golf Club. Found just outside of the bustling city centre of the capital,  Dublin the location of this course is truly unrivalled. Overlooking the steely Irish Sea, the club here is found near to some world famous golfing installations including those at the  Portmarnock and  Royal Dublin golf clubs.

Golf has been played at the site for more than 120 years and the club was originally founded in 1890. Over the years the history of both the club and course has become ever richer and all that visit here are sure to find it interesting. Mother Nature is perhaps the biggest design influence on this course although it has been honed and refined by man, most recently by the well-known Patrick Merrigan who has worked extensively on courses throughout Ireland.

This links course consists of nine holes and measures some 2640 metres from the blue tees with a par of 35 for gentlemen. Players here should expect beautifully undulating and contoured terrain that has been carved into this sandy peninsula allowing it to be playable all year round. This is an interesting course with a fair amount of challenge that will require players to utilise some good course management in order to do well here.

Facilities at the club are very good and include both a bar and restaurant for all to enjoy after their rounds in which they are sure to receive a warm Irish welcome. There are also a number of conference rooms here making this a great location to mix business with pleasure. Furthermore there is a well-stocked professional golf shop offering an array of equipment and apparel and the clubs’ resident professional is always on hand to offer help and advice on all aspects of the game.

Visitors are warmly welcomed at the club however it is essential that tee time availability is checked beforehand to avoid disappointment. Overall availability is fair for visitors and there should be a time to suit all if arranged in advance. Green fee rates here reflect the prestigious nature of both the club and course as well as the excellent location.

Thanks to its proximity to the city centre of Dublin, access to the club from much of the rest of Ireland as well as  Northern Ireland and other parts of the nearby  United Kingdom is good. With regards to accommodation there are some excellent options in the local area to suit all visitors from boutique hotels to cosy guesthouses.
