Situated centrally in the north of  Ireland is the Strokestown Golf Club and its associated golf course. Found in the county of Roscommon the local area is defined by the vast number of stunning loughs that lie here. The county town of Roscommon itself is just over 20 km to the south of the site and has good amenities for visitors as well as a number of places of interest for all.

The club was established in 1995 and was fully affiliated with the Golfing Union of Ireland in the same year. Originally the course was located elsewhere however it moved to its current home in 2001 where it has remained. The course here may be relatively young in comparison to others in the country however it is maturing well.

Scenic is perhaps one of the best words to use to describe this course and the views that can be had from here really add to the quality and experience of play. Made up of 9 holes, the course is of a parkland style and measures 2628 metres from the back tees with a par of 35. The course is well maintained and contoured and this is a stern test of golf for even the most experienced of amateurs.

Strokestown has modest yet fair facilities and visitors here will find a well-stocked bar within the friendly and welcoming clubhouse as well as changing facilities. All visitors are warmly welcomed here and tee times for visitors have fair availability during weekdays although weekend availability is somewhat restricted. Green fee rates here are good value and are constant throughout the year which further adds to the appeal for some.

The club is well located to receive visitors from most central and northern parts of Ireland as well as nearby  Northern Ireland by road. The major town of  Athlone offers stronger onward links to the rest of the country and is around 45 minutes to the south of the club. For visitors there are fair accommodation options in the local area which should appeal to most.
