Description

Found on the East Coast of Ireland, North of the capital Dublin is the Seapoint Golf Links golf course. It is located alongside Termonfeckin Beach and offers fantastic views of the nearby Cooley and Mourne mountains. Set on a large expanse of rugged and unspoilt land this makes for an ideal location for a links course such as this one.

This championship standard course was opened in 1993 and was designed by the partnership of Des Smyth and Declan Branigan whose revered hands have created numerous other courses across Ireland.  Although originally designed in the early 1990’s the course underwent some changes and modifications in 2004 and 2005 to incorporate a wider array of features to make this already enjoyable yet challenging course just that little more of a challenge.

Its 18 holes are laid out across some excellent links land which makes for the perfect canvas on which to play golf. The course measures 6143 metres from the white tees and has a par of 72. Clever and strategic bunkering is scattered throughout the course which is defined by firm greens and crisp fairways. Some man-made contouring has obviously occurred here over the years however this is minimal and the natural surroundings provide the greatest challenges of all for golfers.

The facilities at Seapoint Links are good and extensive and complement the course perfectly. There is both a bar and restaurant providing a great array of food and drink for players and visitors to enjoy. There is also a well-appointed pro golf shop as well as practice facilities which include a natural grass driving range as well as a short game practice area. The clubhouse is also equipped with conference facilities allowing visitors to combine their business with the sport that they love.

Although the club has many membership players, the tee times for visiting players here are very generous and availability is good throughout the day. Green fees here are excellent value for money and a number of packages and deals are often available for players to combine their game with a dining option,or similar, whilst at the course. Although availability is good, booking in advance is highly recommended so as to avoid disappointment.

Getting to the course is quite easy and straightforward even considering it is quite secluded. It is only a short drive away from the sizeable town of Drogheda and from there transport links to the rest of the country and further afield are easier to come by. There are a number of accommodation options in and around the local area particularly in Drogheda that should suit most tastes and budgets.
