The Royal Tara Golf Club and its golf course lie in the county of Meath towards the east of  Ireland in the central band of the country. The golf complex here is extensive and well-appointed and is nestled at the feet of the historic Hill of Tara. Although found in one of the finest Irish settings it is also located perfectly to receive visitors from both near and far as the bustling capital of  Dublin is only around 30 minutes away by car.

The history of the club dates back many number of decades to 1906 when the original idea was formed.  Over the years the club has had a number of names and addresses but it was in 1923 that the club moved to its current home. The complex originally consisted of nine holes but a number of extensions carried out in 1966, 1969 and the early 90’s have helped swell the number of holes to 27. The most recent extensions and upgrades were carried out by the well-known duo of Des Smyth and Declan Brannigan.

Laid out in three loops of nine, the course here is a 27 hole complex. The three loops are known as the Tara, Cluide and Bellinter and it is the choice of players which to play although the most popular combination is the Cluide and Tara. Combined, they have a par of 72 and measure 5978 metres from the white tees. Features here are extensive and of a parkland style, generally the course can be enjoyed by players of most abilities as there is something to challenge and entertain all.

Home to a modern clubhouse that was opened in 2000, the club boasts some great facilities including a well-stocked bar and spacious restaurant. There is also a extensive pro shop offering a great array of merchandise, equipment and apparel as well as a number of hire items that should help to facilitate play.

Tee times for visitors have good general availability throughout most of the week, although weekends are obviously more restricted. Green fee rates are good and reflect the nature of the course and its facilities. The club are also proud to host a number of open competitions throughout the duration of the year which both members and visitors can enjoy.

Access to the club by road is good from much of central Ireland and nearby Dublin has strong onward links to  Northern IrelandEngland and  Scotland. Accommodation options in and around the area are good and the club has a number of links with local providers which offer some great value stay and play packages.
