The golf course at the Roscommon Golf Club is situated in central  Ireland towards the north of the area. Found in the county from which it takes its name the site lies to the south of the county town of the same name also. The local area boasts a number of attractions and places of interest including the ancient ruins of Roscommon Castle and Harrison Hall which is home to the bank of Ireland. The town is often quoted as being the centre of Ireland as it is where a number of major road routes meet, meaning that access here is good too.

Established in 1904, the club recently celebrated its 110th birthday in 2014 and has a long and rich history. Originally consisting of just 9 holes, the course is set in an expansive estate, it was not until 1991 that enough land was acquired to extend the course to the full 18 holes. Designers that have worked on the course include Eddie Connaughton and Ken Kearney both of whom have worked extensively on courses across Ireland.

Of a parkland style that measures 6067 metres from the championship tees the course has a very traditional feel. With a par of 72 the course here is a stern test of skill and nerve for all types of golfers. There is sufficient challenge for the more experienced of golfers whilst still being sympathetic to those that are newer to the sport. Water plays a large role in the layout of the course here and comes in to play on no less than four of the holes here.

Facilities here are good and are housed in the clubhouse which was erected in 1996. It is bright, spacious and welcoming with a well-stocked bar and good catering facilities for all players to enjoy after their rounds.

Visitors are always welcome here and during the high season the club hosts regular open competitions for all to enjoy and general tee time availability is also fair. Green fee rates here are reasonable and reflect the nature of the course and facilities.

As mentioned previously, the club here is easily accessed from much of Ireland via a number of routes and access is also easy from  Northern Ireland also. There are a number of good accommodation providers dotted in and around the local area which should suit the tastes and budgets of most visitors.
