South of the bustling city of  Dublin in the east of  Ireland lies the golf course at Rathfarnham Golf Club. In an area full of great golf courses, Rathfarnham is in good company and just some of its neighbours include the courses at the  EdmondstownBallinascorney and  Stackstown golf clubs. The nearby town of Tallaght is less than 7 km to the west of the site and the heart of Dublin is only 11 km away also meaning that both amenities and access here are good.

Founded in 1899, the club originally played at a different location until it moved to its current home in 1966. Originally a course of 9 holes, developments were carried out in 2002 to extend the course to an unusual 14 hole layout and yet another hole was added in 2008. It is the end goal of the club to extend the course to the full 18 holes at some point in the near future. Designers that have worked on the course throughout its life include the celebrated Jeff Howes and Patrick Merrigan.

Its location near to the foothills of the imposing Dublin Mountains make this a very scenic course which offers views over some of the most beautiful Irish countryside. Measuring 5424 metres from the blue tees and with a par of 71, this is a fair course that is of a parkland style and its features are very traditional. Players of all strengths are sure to enjoy this course and the fair challenge that it offers.

Facilities at Rathfarnham are fair and there is a good catering service within the clubhouse. A number of items are also available to hire here which should help facilitate play such as buggies and trolleys. Green fee rates for visitors here reflect the nature of the course and facilities and are moderate. Tee times for visitors that are not with a guest are generally good and there should be a time to suit most with Mondays and Fridays being the best option for visitors.

The club is well connected to the rest of Ireland as well as  Northern Ireland and further afield thanks to its proximity to the capital Dublin. Visitors to this club are likely to stay over in the city centre and Dublin has plenty to offer in terms of accommodation options from sleek, boutique hotels to quiet B&B’s.
