Found in County Wicklow, Ireland just outside of the small town of Enniskerry the West golf course is one of two courses at the Powerscourt Golf Club. It lies in the estate of the well-known Slazenger family whose wealth and affluence is rooted in the production of sporting goods and equipment. It is situated in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains which add to the stunning scenery of the course and the amazing panoramas that can be viewed from it.

The West course is the newer of the two and was opened in 2003. It was designed by the well known David McClay Kidd who has worked his magic on a plethora of courses across the globe. Like the East Course at Powercourt, the West has a variety of features to appeal to golfers of all styles and skills.

This 18 hole course measures just short of 6383 metres and has a par of 72. The course features a variety of challenging holes and its sympathetic design utilises and incorporates many of the surrounding natural features including a number of lakes and mature trees. The fairways of the West course are of a generous width and the greens are considered to be a little larger than the norm. Bunkers feature prominently in the course and further add to what is a challenging and interesting yet still enjoyable course.

With regards to facilities at the course, Powerscourt is well equipped to meet the needs and demands of all golfers. The clubhouse for the courses was rejuvenated in 2003 to coincide with the opening of the West Course and features both a bar and restaurant to provide players with ample refreshment after their rounds. In terms of more specific golfing features, the clubhouse boasts modern changing facilities for all players as well as a well-appointed golf shop for all of those equipment and merchandise needs. The clubhouse can also act as a venue for corporate events and functions making it a great destinations for those wanting to combine work life with the sport.

Tee times for the West course are numerous and can availability changes somewhat with the seasons. Green fee rates for this course are very competitive considering the high quality of this course and its beautiful location. Discounts and offers are also available at selected times of the year especially for larger groups of players of 4 or more.

Thanks to its proximity to the Irish capital and metropolitan hub that is Dublin getting to the West course at Powerscourt is relatively easy by various forms of transport. A popular accommodation chosen by players is the Powerscourt hotel which is also part of the 1000 acre Slazenger estate and offers a variety of luxury accommodation.
