Palmerstown House Estate and Stud Golf Club is situated in the tiny Johnstown of County Kildare, Ireland, 30km from the centre of Dublin.

Designed by Christy O’Connor Jnr. the Irish pro golfer, this beautifully constructed golf course commands 6784m of parkland over 18 holes, and first opened for play in 2005.

The golf course was designed for players of all abilities and is surrounded by mature trees providing a colourful setting for the course throughout the year. Many who have played the course at Palmerstown insist it will be home to some of the biggest championships in Europe as it matures as a course.

Green Fees for this course are pleasingly low for such a fantastic course, and also remain reasonable during the high season. Early bird and sunset rounds provide for a cheaper round, and booking in advance also means you have the opportunity to get a meal at the restaurant after your round for an impressive discount.

Golf clubs, buggies and trolleys are all offered to hire from the clubhouse, and lessons are available from either of the onsite professionals for adults and junior players. The pro shop has a wide range of stock to cater to all your golfing needs.

Palmerstown House Estate and Stud Golf Club also has venues for everything from weddings to corporate events within its awe-inspiring grounds, the majority of which overlook the golf course.

Rain in Ireland is to be expected, especially during the low season, however it should be known that this should in no way affect game play as the course is designed to withstand the local weather conditions, which are usually mild. Wind in the area can sometimes add a little extra challenge to the game, but does not tend to prevent play.

As it is placed not far from Dublin, there is a large choice of accommodation in the vicinity of the golf course, with something for every preference.

After a few years without any golf club and members, Palmerstown House opened for membership in the summer of 2013. I played the course in late November while we had just got some rain. Everyone was very friendly and helped a lot, the locker rooms were very spacious and welcoming with TV's and many sofas. The range was very good with different targets. When we started playing the course it was a little wet in the rough but the fairways and greens were in great condition. I would put all the par 5's and par 3's in my top 100 golf holes, the 18th is a great finishing hole with the clubhouse in the background and a massive green. the bar food was amazing but the burger was easily the best. There will be open competitions on during 2014 and I suggest everyone plays it.

We played this beautiful parkland golf course for $40 per player and €20 for the E-cart in July 2013. The clubhouse is just renovated and the gastronomy will be reopened soon.
