Found on one of the most western points of mainland Ireland is the Mulranny Golf Club and its associated golf course. Within County Mayo the location of this course is truly stunning as it overlooks the tranquil Claw Bay and the steely North Atlantic. Nestled in one of the most secluded parts of Ireland, the course lies near to a number of natural heritage sites as well as the Ballycroy National Park making this a perfect destination for a quiet and relaxing golfing break.

The club here dates back to 1896 and has an extensive and interesting history. In recent years the club and course have experienced extensive storm damage however the generosity and determination of members and sponsors have allowed the club to overcome this and make it even stronger although there is still work to be done.

This is a classic links course made up of 9 holes that measure 5729 metres from the white tees with a par of 71 (when played as 18). Features here are very typical of links courses and nature plays the biggest role in terms of design here. Expect rugged, natural terrain combined with strong bunkering and of course, the weather to create an enjoyable yet not too challenging course.

Facilities here are basic as recent years have been dedicated to the protection and salvation of the course however there are good general amenities in the local area. Green fee rates are very reasonable and the club actively welcomes visitors so as to help fund the storm defences which it requires. Tee times are also generally good and there should be a time to suit all.

Getting to the club can take some time due to its location however it is perfect for those wanting a quiet break. There are a modest number of hotels and guesthouses in and around the local area which should suit most tastes and budgets.

This is a 9 hole links course with different pin tee positions for back 9. Really enjoyed this West of Ireland course. Never played a course before which had barb wired fences around the greens to keep out the sheep, cattle and wild ponies out but added to the character of the course. Also the Atlantic backdrop with its pleasant gales added to the challenge. Highly recommend this course (Euros 20 a round) but make sure you are up to the drive as the roads are narrow and to be respected.

Typical links course near the sea, offering superb views, strong wind and primal golf. Not for fine spirits, because the main task of the greenkeeper is collecting cow dung. The Greens are in very good condition, as enclosed and only through gates to enter. Space has only nine holes, but playing from 2 different tees off, so it has 18 different holes. The € 20 represent a full-day green fee, a good rental equipment including balls and tea costs €10. Morning little go, starting at 11:00 it will be quite full. Very nice staff - typical Ireland just.
