The Mount Juliet golf course is part of the Mount Juliet Hotel and Golf Resort complex situated in County Kilkenny towards the South East of Ireland. Lying almost an equal distance away from both the large cities of Cork and Dublin. The Mount Juliet resort is an ideal location in which to relax and enjoy a round or two of high quality golf on a championship standard course set in the heart of Kilkenny.

Opened in 1991, this course was designed by the renowned Jack Nicklaus and his team. He was also called back to make adjustments to the course in both 2002 and 2004 to prepare for the pending World Golf Championships. Since its inauguration in 1991, the course has also played host to a number of Irish Open Championships.

This beautifully designed course has a number of features spread across 18 holes which offer a par of 72. Said features include a number of elevated tees, carefully sculptured greens and rolling fairways. Add to this the presence of a number of water hazards, both natural and man-made, and this 6675 metre course offers a memorable round for a variety of different players.

Facilities at the Mount Juliet course are extensive both on and off the course and the associated hotel has plenty to offer for both golfers and non-golfers alike.  Golf specific facilities at the disposal of players include a covered driving range, optional golf tuition as well as a practice putting green and bunker & chipping green. Away from the course the Mount Juliet hotel has plenty to offer in terms of bars and restaurants, the hotel also boasts a Spa and Leisure centre and also has installations for fishing and archery.

Tee times for this course are extensive and are available throughout the day. Seasonal variations in tee times also occur at the Mount Juliet course. With relation to the green fee rates of this course, they are very competitive for visitors considering the high quality of both the course and its facilities.

In terms of accessibility the course lies between the two large cities of Dublin and Cork which both have larger airports making it easier for overseas players to visit. Both airports are less than 2 hours away by car. In terms of domestic accessibility the course is well connected to the majority of the rest of Ireland due to its proximity to the smaller city of Kilkenny.

With regards to accommodation, the resort at Mount Juliet boasts a host of luxury accommodation options for visitors including everything from rooms in Mount Juliet house to individual lodges which guests can hire for their stay.  For those who may want a more affordable option, nearby Kilkenny has a variety of accommodation to suit all needs, tastes and budgets. Kilkenny also has a lot to offer in terms of culture and attractions including Kilkenny Castle, a number of bridges and the Old Wooden Mills to name just a few.

Very scenic and well designed golf course with hazards placed strategically off the tee offering plenty of decision making and strategy as well as risk/reward shots. My favourite hole was the par 5 10th- 2 routes to take for 2nd shot fairway sits way out to the left and angles back towards the green for 3rd shot, taking the 2nd shot on requires a high fade over a bunch of mature trees and a large number of pot bunkers waiting to gobble the ball up should it not quite make the carry (I'm a 5 handicap and hit two of my best shots ever drive and high 3 wood to 6 feet then knocked in the putt for eagle so I'll remember it for a while!!) My other favourite hole was the sugnature 4th, short (only a 6 iron off the tee and 9 iron to the green for me) but incredibly tight and intimidating. A thoroughly enjoyable golf course.

I would agree with the entry below that this is the best golf course i have ever played. Everything about the place is class from arrival and welcome, pro shop, restaurant through to the course itself. The course was immaculate, particularly considering it had rained heavily on arrival. We were 12 golfers ranging from h/cap 8 to 28 and everyone had similar opinions of the place. It is tough but very playable. The 3rd, 10th and 18th will live long in the memory. Also, the putting course is well worth a visit, not for confidence though!!!
