Mortonhall Golf Club golf course is located just south of Edinburgh in Scotland. The club has hosted the Scottish Amateur Stroke Play and the Scottish Youth Tournaments. Mortonhall is just 4 miles south of Edinburgh Castle.

Mortonhall was founded in 1892 and is the oldest course, still played over, in the City of Edinburgh and is regarded as one of Scotland’s premier clubs and as one of the best parkland courses in the Lothians.

The course had had several golfing figures leave their mark on the construction of the course including James Braid, Willie Park and J.H, Taylor. The course was upgraded in 1975 by Fred Hawtree the renowned course designer when 30 additional acres were purchased.

The course is characterised by mature Silver Birch, pine, fir and sycamore trees that define the course’s wide open fairways which lead to large beautifully tended greens. Mortonhall also provides incredible views across Edinburgh, the Firth of Forth and the Pentland Hills.

The gold course is very easily accessible by road and lies just ten minutes from the centre of Edinburgh. The city is accessible by air and rail.

Mortonhall is an 18 hole parkland course with a par of 72 and a length of 5736m. It is a challenging but fair test of golf and its superb drainage means the golf course can be played on throughout the year.

Tee times are generally available after 9.30am weekdays and after 10am on weekends. Green fees are very reasonable, particularly for such a central location. Clubs, trolleys and buggies are available for hire.

Mortonhall has a first class clubhouse with full amenities as well as a catering who will provide excellent snacks and meals in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere

The golf club has excellent facilites including a large, well-stocked shop with quality golf equipment. Mortonhall has superb practice facilities and lessons are available form the club professional.

Mortonhall is a must for any keen golfer visiting the historic city of Edinburgh and provides some of the best golf in Scotland.

Played on Thursday 30 April 2015 as part of our week golf trip in Edinburgh Area. As per my previous review from October top notch yet again, Gorse bush flowers were in bloom which shows the course off beautifully, the greens were lightning a real defence for the course not that it needs it! Superb in every way. That good a couple of the group put it straight into there top 2 courses ever played which is some accolade as we have played a few and the fact they wanted to go back and play the next day had we the time etc is a great statement
