Clustered in an area full of a number of excellent golf courses is the golf course at Monkstown Golf Club which is in great company. Found within County Cork in the South of Ireland the course here is less than 14 km away from the bustling city centre and everything that comes with that yet still has some beautiful views and vistas over the nearby Cork Harbour. Other courses in the local area include those at the Raffeen Creek, Douglas and Cobh Golf Clubs.

The club here dates back to 1908 and recently celebrated its centenary. It originally comprised of 9 holes but was extended to the full 18 in 1971. The design of this course is thanks to the combination of works by Tom Carey and Peter O’Hare and players here are sure to find a good mixture of features.

The course here measures 5370 metres from the white tees and has a par of 70. The course layout is unusual as it is intersected at points by a main road, however this should not detract from the greatness of the course and water hazards combined with tiered greens make for an interesting yet enjoyable challenge.

Facilities at this club are good and are housed in the modern clubhouse which was opened in 2006. Here you will find modern locker rooms at the disposal of all players as well as a bar and restaurant which players can enjoy after their rounds and from which all are sure to receive a warm Irish welcome. There is also a well-stocked professional golf shop on site offering a wide array of apparel and equipment.

Members make up a lot of the play here however the tee times for visitors have generally good availability and there should be a time to suit everyone if booked far enough in advance. Green fees for visitors to this course are also reasonable for this course and offer good value for money. The club also hosts a number of competitions here throughout the year which are open to both members and visitors alike.

As the club is close to Cork, transport links to here from much of the rest of Ireland as well as the nearby United Kingdom are also good. Accommodation options in and around the local area are also good and there should be something to suit most tastes and budgets.

Beautiful, traditional parkland course with mature trees and some beautiful views. Very gepfegt, recommended. Unfortunately lacks a driving range, that's why only 4 stars.
