The golf course at the Milltown Golf Club can be found near the outskirts of Dublin city centre in the east of Ireland. The local region is synonymous with excellent golf and there are many excellent golfing facilities nearby meaning that Milltown is in very good company. The vibrant city centre is a mere 7km to the north of the club and boasts extensive attractions and places of interest for visitors of all ages and tastes.

The foundations of this club date back to the early 20th century, 1907 to be exact, when a group of local gentlemen were discussing the potential of a new golf club over a game of snooker. Thus Milltown was born. Originally comprising of 9 holes, a further 9 holes were added to the course in 1912 and were designed by F.E. Davies and W.C. Pickeman. Since then the course has obviously seen a number of upgrades and renovations, the most recent of which were completed in 2008 by McKensie Ebert.

Of a parkland style the course measures 5671 metres from the medal tees and has a par of 71. This is an interesting course with a fair amount of challenge that is sure to test players. The course is peppered with mature trees, cleverly placed bunkers and a number of water features which combine to make a great course that is sure to be enjoyed by all that play here.

Facilities here are good and there is a spacious bar offering a wide array of beverages as well as a restaurant with an extensive menu. There is also a well-appointed professional golf shop providing a good selection of equipment, merchandise and apparel. The resident club professional also offers a number of golfing tuition and coaching options which are great for those wanting to improve their games.

Tee time availability for visitors to this course is somewhat restricted however there are a number of open days held here which should suit most. Green fee rates for visitors may, at first, seem steep however they reflect the nature and standard of both the course and club as well as its location near to capital.

Thanks to its proximity with the city centre transport links to the area from much of the rest of Ireland as well as Northern Ireland and the rest of the United Kingdom are good. There is a good selection of accommodation options in and around the local area which should appeal to the majority of tastes and budgets.
