Situated in County Cork, Ireland around half an hour to the West of the city of Cork itself is where you will find the golf course at Macroom Golf Club. Nestled near to the Kerry Mountains the views from this course are fantastic and really add an extra dimension to the play here. The nearby town of Macroom lies in the valley created by the River Sullone and is famed for its Castle which is where the golf course is set.
The club was founded back in 1925 and has a strong historical connection with the nearby town and castle as well as nobility in the area. It is unknown exactly who laid out the original course however over the years the course has undergone a number of redevelopments and updates to create the course we know today.
This par 71 course measures 5574 metres from the white tees and is of a parkland style nature. Expect beautifully rolling terrain and greens as well as mature trees and water hazards which combine here to make a magnificent course in a stunning location that isn’t without its fair share of challenge.
Macroom Golf Club is proud to boast a great array of excellent facilities to members and visitors alike. The clubhouse is home to a sizeable bar and restaurant area which can be enjoyed by players after their rounds and all are sure to receive a warm and traditional Irish welcome.
The club has a significant member presence however visitors are more than welcome to play here. The tee times for visitors to this course are reasonable however they are quite restricted during peak times throughout the course of the day and particularly during weekends. Green fee rates for visitors here are fair when you consider the beautiful backdrop and the quality of play that can be had here however it should be noted that bookings must be of at least two players. The club also hosts a number of open competitions throughout the year which can be enjoyed by all.
Although the club is peaceful and set in some of the finest Irish countryside it is relatively well connected by road to the nearby city of Cork as well as the major town of Killarney which both have stronger transport links to the rest of the country. The selection of accommodation in and around the local area is fair and there should be something to suit most tastes.

We found the Course in excellent condition and received a very warm welcome from both Staff and Members. Although we are Seniors and found it tough going on the hilly parts of the Course we still returned for more. There's a good variety of challenges, and the views from the Course quite stunning.

But probably mostly local players know that and are very obliging. Only two buggies available although the terrain for the first 9 holes is very hilly. Overall a very varied course is playing very well can be. The operators of the clubhouse seems to do everything well, he has nice girls book, starter and restoration, only for the operation. Food and drink very abundant and tasty, it is worth, in this club to feed, nice atmosphere.
