Situated in the outskirts of the city of the same name Limerick Golf Club and its golf course can be found in the Western half of Ireland. It is just South of the city of Limerick itself and the surrounding towns and villages are filled with a number of attractions and eateries which are perfect for golfing visitors here to enjoy after their rounds or as part of a short golfing holiday. Limerick and the surrounding area has plenty to offer to visitors.

Limerick Golf Club is one of the oldest in Ireland and was founded in 1891 which by coincidence was the same foundation year as the Golfing Union of Ireland. The course was created by a number of designers with both Dr Alistair MacKenzie and John D. Harris lending their efforts and talents to the majority of the holes here.

The course is made up of 18 holes and measures 5745 metres from the white tees with a par of 72. Due to the older nature of this course the drainage here has been a serious problem in recent years however recent redevelopments and the introduction of new drainage systems have occurred which have vastly improved the situation. Features here include sloping and undulating greens and a number of tricky dog legs to name but a few.

Facilities here are good and are housed in a modern clubhouse which was opened in 2007. They include a spacious and well-appointed bar and restaurant area which have some fantastic views over much of the golf course.

The club is proud to boast one of the highest membership rates in Ireland meaning that tee times for visitors here are restricted even during off-peak times. Green fee rates are fair however prior booking is highly recommended so as to avoid disappointment and to secure the best of the already restricted times.

Transport links to the rest of the country from this golf course are fair and the nearby city of Limerick has a number of good links to main roads and motorways. Limerick is also the most popular choice in terms of accommodation for visitors to the area and has a great array of options which are sure to provide visitors with a comfortable stay.
