Found in County Meath on the North east coast of Ireland is the golf course at Laytown and Bettystown Golf Club. This club can be found in one of the most scenic parts of Ireland and the views that can be seen from here are excellent. Located only 20 minutes away from Dublin Airport and only 40 from Northern Ireland makes this a popular choice with visitors from near and far.

The club here was founded in 1909 and recently celebrated its centenary. Designed originally by two of the most famous golf architects of a generation, W.C. Pickeman and Cecil Barcroft. Between them these two revered designers have been responsible for some of the best examples of Irish courses including those at the Portmarnock and Skerries Golf Clubs.

This is a fine example of a links course and it measures just short of 5700 metres and has a par of 71. Features of this 18 hole course include those synonymous with Links courses such as naturally undulating hills and hollows and windswept terrain. Fast greens are also present here and the natural weather conditions play a huge part in the success or failure of play here making it a tough course yet ne which is still undoubtedly enjoyable.

Facilities here are good and are housed in a modern clubhouse which still remains a traditional feel. Players will find a full bar and restaurant within the clubhouse which they can enjoy after their rounds. Furthermore there is a professional golf shop on site and the club also has its own professional.

Tee time availability for visitors to this course is fair and there should be a suitable time for all, however it is better during weekdays as weekends tend to be reserved for members. Green fee rates here are reasonable and offer good value for money when you consider the quality of this excellent links course and the facilities.

Laytown and Bettystown is well located to receive visitors from across Ireland as well as the nearby United Kingdom and further afield thanks to the well-established road links and the proximity to the international airport at Dublin. There are a number of accommodation options in and around the local area which should appeal to most tastes and budget also.

A great fun golf course with a brilliant mixture of fun, quirky holes to strong and challenging ones. Played in June and it was bouncy so hitting fairways was tough. If you are in this area then Laytown is well worth a play. Very welcoming clubhouse. (6 handicap golfer)
