Lambeg Golf Club is to be found on Aberdelghy Golf Course, caught between the River Lagan and the railway. It is a place that has changed and grown throughout the years, adapting and improving to accommodate the player’s needs. For this reason it is one of the top golf courses in the area. It started off with just 9 holes, but many years later another 9 were added, further confirming its status as one of the famous golf courses in the area. The course is on the small side compared to other clubs in the area, measuring only 4,143 metres. However, it is not plain sailing, and is considered a great challenge for novice and experienced golfers – other teams who have played at the course have found the course to be difficult, particularly as the water hazards come into play on 5 of the holes. It is a par 66, putting more emphasis on your accuracy than anything else.

The course, having been built originally in 1986, was one of the first municipal golf courses in Northern Ireland. It was designed by Alec Blair and Greg Ferris, as a 9 hole course. Some changes were made in 1998, including an extension of the course to 18 holes. However in 2009, extensive renovations started, which overhauled the drainage system, also including a widening of the stream and the inclusion of a few new bunkers. In June of 2011 it was opened as one of the top golf courses that we see today.

Lambeg Golf Club is found only 1 mile from Lisburn, the third largest city in Northern Ireland. There are many things to see and do there, including great shopping facilities and plenty of tourist attractions.

You can take part in:

  • cycling,
  • horse riding,
  • karting,
  • as well as a variety of leisure centres and water parks.

There are also many other famous golf courses in the area, perfect for a golfer who wants to get a full tour of the area in. There are many good quality places to stay in the city, along with great restaurants and bars, and so this really is a great area to visit.

They have very reasonably priced green fees and tee times, and players should expect to be paying between 10 and 17 pounds for 18 holes. They also have a pro shop on site, which offers all sorts of merchandise and equipment, also available online.
