Lying just outside of the city centre of Dublin in the east of Ireland is the golf course at the Kilmashogue Golf Club. Found towards the south of the city centre the golf club and course lie on the same land as the prestigious St Columba’s College which is one of the finest boarding schools in Ireland. Nestled at the foot of the Dublin Mountains the course is perfectly located to offer  a relaxing golfing option near to the vibrant capital city.

The club here has an interesting and sporadic history, originally founded in 1909 the club played on a course designed by W.C. Pickeman however due to a number of issues the club floundered in 1911. Golf was only played here once more when the course was laid out at St Columba’s in 1994, some 83 years later. The club was therefore registered and resurrected officially in 1995 and since then has matured wonderfully.

Of a parkland style, the course here is made up of nine holes that measure 2617 metres from the white tees and have a par of 35. The course is maintained to the highest of standards and features here are plentiful to provide players with a very interesting game. The layout is quite tight meaning that accuracy and skill are essential here to do well.

Facilities here are of a high standard and the modern clubhouse boasts a large function room and TV area in which players can relax. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen and locker rooms complete with showers. Practice facilities include a driving net and putting green as well as a separate green for pitching and chipping.

The club is very member orientated and the only visitors that are allowed here are the guests of members meaning that tee time availability is good. Green fee rates reflect the prestigious nature of the course and location and offer fair value for money. There are also a number of membership options available for those considering this as a permanent fixture on their golfing calendar.

Road links to the course and club are good from much of the rest of Ireland as well as nearby Northern Ireland.  Accommodation options in and around the local area, and in particular the city centre, are plentiful and there should be something to suit all.
