Located centrally within Northern Ireland is the golf course at the Killymoon Golf Club. The club is located just outside of the town of Cookstown and access to much of the rest of the country is good, thanks to its central location. There are a number of places of natural beauty nearby including the tranquil Lough Neagh which is a must visit for nature lovers and anglers alike. Cookstown itself has fair local amenities and there are a number of pubs and restaurants as well as three hotels for visitors to choose from.

The club was one of the founding members of the Golfing Union of Ireland which highlights its age and prestige. The club is steeped in history and is very proud of its heritage and foundations. The course here has seen a number of alterations and changes over the years however the designers remain uncredited. A new clubhouse was opened here in 1989 by British Open champion Fred Daly.

Like many of the other courses in the country, the course here is of the popular parkland style and consists of 18 holes. From the white tees it measures just over 5670 metres with a par of 70 for gentlemen. Players should expect a gently undulating course here as well as the parkland defining mature trees and woodland. Furthermore there are a number of intelligently placed bunkers and water features which provide challenge. Overall this is an interesting and enjoyable course that should appeal to the strengths and likes of players with varying skill sets.

With regards to facilities, the club is well appointed to meet the needs of all. The Fairways restaurant serves a vast array of tasty dishes to suit all occasions and there is also a bar which players can enjoy after their rounds. The club is also home to a resident professional as well as a professional golf shop offering an array of equipment and apparel. The professional also offers coaching and tuition by prior arrangement.

Tee time availability for visitors is generally good here as long as they are willing to avoid peak times such as weekends. Green fee rates are also reasonable for visitors and there are a number of discounts and offers available for play at certain times which offer even greater value for money.

As mentioned previously, the central location of the club means that access to much of the rest of the country as well as nearby Ireland is good. There are a number of accommodation options within Cookstown which are sure to suit the needs, tastes and budgets of most visitors.
