Located in the far Southwest of Ireland within County Kerry the golf course at Kenmare Golf Club is incredibly scenic and is a fine jewel in the crown of both Kerry and Ireland as a whole. From the course, views of the nearby Kenmare Bay and out over the North Atlantic are plentiful and the majestically imposing nearby mountains further add to this breath-taking setting making this a perfect location in which to enjoy golf.

The club here was founded back in 1903 and originally comprised of 9 holes. It was not until the early 1990’s, 1993 to be exact, that the course was extended to the full 18 hole layout. The extension and redevelopment was designed by the legendary late, great Eddie Hackett who has worked on many courses throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Measuring 4990 metres from the yellow tees the course here has a par of 71. This 18 hole layout is of a prime parkland style and has a number of features to both entertain and challenge players. Said features include multi-tiered greens, water hazards, a number of tricky dog legs and some intelligently placed bunkers. Overall this is a tough yet enjoyable course which should appeal to players of all skill levels.

Kenmare Golf Club boasts some good facilities and the welcoming clubhouse has all of the facilities any modern golfer should need. There is a cosy bar for players to relax and unwind in after their rounds and enjoy a beverage or two. Also, there is a professional golf shop on site which stocks a wide variety of merchandise, equipment and apparel for players to invest in.

Tee times for visitors to this course have good general availability throughout most of the week and weekend availability is still also fair so there should be a time to suit all. Green fee rates are also reasonable and reflect the quality of the course and facilities here. There are also a number of discounts and offers available to play here at certain times of the year. Like all courses, both tee time availability and green fee rates are subject to change throughout the seasons and this should be noted when booking.

As the course is quite far south, getting here can take some time however it is well worth it and road links are fair. With regards to accommodation options there are a number of providers in and around the local area which should be suitable for visitors and the club has a number of good links with many of them in terms of stay and play packages.

The old 9 holes, which cling to the Kenmare Bay and the new 9 hole, located on the other side of the village in the hilly hinterland, produce the variety of this place. A public course which is well worth a visit. Who plays a round of golf and then next door looking for the Castle Park or should the located just 100 metres from Centre of the typical Irish place Kenmare with numerous shops, with plan for pubs and restaurants.
