The official name of The K Club is the Kildare Hotel, Spa and Country Club however to many it is simply known as the former. Found to the West of Dublin in County Kildare the resort is home to two championship golf courses, The Palmer Ryder Cup Course and The Smurfit Course. Both have their own attributes and strengths and the resort as a whole offers a fantastic location for golfers to spend a few days away enjoying the sport that they love.
Of the two courses The Smurfit is the younger and was opened for play in 2003 and has already seen its fair share of championships and tournaments that more established clubs and courses can only dream of. Like its older contemporary the Smurfit was designed by Arnold Palmer and his team and is a unique, modern and revolutionary course which has received a great amount of critical acclaim and accolades in its relatively short life.
Measuring just under 6700 metres with a par of 72 this course is a huge challenge for all and the features here only add to that fact. Although questioned by many, the best way to describe this course is like that of an Inland Links if such a course type were to exist. The dramatic surroundings combined with features such as vast sloping greens, clever and tricky bunkering and extraordinary water hazards make for a thrilling and refreshing course. A forerunner in a new type of golf course this is best avoided by the lovers of more traditional courses however for those looking for a thrilling challenge and something new then this will be ideal for them.
Both courses here have their own clubhouses and each boast a bar and restaurant for players to enjoy. There is also a popular Golf Academy as part of the resort which is staffed by golf professionals and is perfect for those new to the sport. Furthermore there is a well-appointed professional golf shop selling a huge array of merchandise, apparel and equipment from a host of international brands.
Tee times for visitors to this course are mainly undisclosed however those shared have an extremely restricted availability. That said however the resort has a number of packages and deals available which involve a play and stay option which is probably the best option for visitors. Green fee rates here are on the high side however when you consider the calibre and intrigue of the course they can be seen as more reasonable.
Due to the relative proximity to Dublin, getting to the resort is straightforward and road links in the area to much of the rest of Ireland are good. The nearby international airport in Dublin is also good for visitors that are coming from further afield. The obvious accommodation choice here is the luxurious onsite hotel which offers visitors an unforgettable stay in a beautifully appointed location boasting amenities such as a Spa and number of fine dining restaurants offering cuisines from across the globe.

Cracking little course!04/02/2015this review is the subjective opinion of a GOLFBOO user and not of GOLFBOO S.LI really enjoyed my round here earlier in the year, it is easy to see why the resort hosted the Ryder Cup not too long ago. The course is difficult to navigate but the challenge is certainly an exciting one! The overall atmosphere is also superb and I will definitely be making the trip back in the not too distant future!
Average rating obtained byThis rating for The K Club Golf Resort. is the average of 4 ratings obtained from www.1golf.euDer Platz hat wirklich Einiges zu bieten und war in einem guten Pflegezustand.
Average rating obtained byThis rating for The K Club Golf Resort. is the average of 7 ratings obtained from www.top100golfcourses.co.ukLots of water with plenty of risk/reward shots. The course wasn't in great nick when we played it. There were divots and unrepaired pitch marks. It's over priced for what you get but that might be me bitching cos I lost 5 balls to the water.
