Luxurious and idyllic are just some of the words that can be used to describe the Kildare Hotel, Spa and Country Club which is more commonly referred to as The K Club. The home of two championship standards golf courses the resort lies in a large estate within County Kildare however County Dublin and the City of Dublin itself are only around 30km away which makes this a perfect destination for those wishing to relax and enjoy the sport that they love in a setting that isn’t too far detached from the fast-paced buzzing metropolitan that is the capital.
One of two courses at the site, The Palmer Ryder Cup Course was designed by the American golfing legend Arnold Palmer and was opened for play in 1991. As the name suggests the course has played host to the Ryder Cup which occurred in 2006 as well as 11 European Opens which have helped to establish this course as one of the most prolific and important in Europe.
Its 18 holes measure over 6705 metres from the blue tees and have a par of 72 which really is a test even for the most experienced of golfers. Expect a feature filled course which has been designed to test all and really will need a clear head and excellent play for golfers to do well here. Its parkland style features long, stretching fairways, a number of tricky dog legs, elevation changes, undulating greens and some punishing rough areas to name but a few of its traits. This really is a monumental, yet enjoyable challenge for even the most advanced of golfers.
The facilities within the K Club complex are astounding and both courses have their own clubhouse complete with individual restaurant and bar area. There is also a shared professional golf shop within the resort which stocks a huge array of products from some of the most popular golfing brands around the world. Here you will also find a golf academy where tuition and coaching can be provided by the clubs professionals for those who are just starting out in the sport or those more experienced players who wish to hone a particular skill.
As the resort is so prestigious and has a very strong and influential member presence the tee times for visitors to the Palmer Ryder Cup Course are restricted and usually fall between the hours of 8am and 10am on weekday mornings however availability changes vastly with the season and due to its popular nature prior booking is essential. Green fee rates here are very good considering the history and illustriousness of the course and offer fair value for money.
Access to the club and courses is good as it is close to the capital Dublin and road, rail and air links to there from the rest of Ireland as well as Northern Ireland and the rest of the world are good. A popular accommodation option with visitors to this course is the resorts own hotel which has a whole host of suite and room options. The resort also boasts a spa and a number of fine dining options making it the ideal getaway retreat.

Average rating obtained byThis rating for The K Club Golf Resort. is the average of 4 ratings obtained from www.1golf.euAlready, the entrance to this former Ryder Cup place (2006) suggests that it is a special place. Play where Tiger Woods has already cut off. The ambience is lifted and the place just class. Super maintained fairways and fast track loyalty Greens. The bunker landscape places the player always facing new challenges. Large old trees and water hazards call for a strategic game. Highly recommended.
Average rating obtained byThis rating for The K Club Golf Resort. is the average of 7 ratings obtained from www.top100golfcourses.co.ukLots of water with plenty of risk/reward shots. The course wasn't in great nick when we played it. There were divots and unrepaired pitch marks. It's over priced for what you get but that might be me bitching cos I lost 5 balls to the water.
