Lying near to the coast in the East of Ireland is the golf course at the Greystones Golf Club. Found in the heart of a majestic estate the course here has some fabulous surroundings and the stunning Wicklow Mountains can be found nearby. Found in the county of Wicklow itself, the course overlooks the churning, steel grey Irish Sea and players here are often quoted as saying that the surroundings are second to none.

The club here has a rich history and was founded first in 1895 making it one of the oldest in the region. The course design was inspired by the famous Harry Colt and to this day the club remains one of the most prestigious private members clubs within the whole of Ireland although visitors are also welcomed.

Comprising of 18 holes the course here is of a parkland style and has many of the traditional features one would expect.  It is not the longest course in the world as it measures 5337 metres however the par of 69 demands accuracy to ensure that players do well here. Players should expect a rewarding challenge with this course and features include high-standard, sand based greens mature trees.

Facilities here are extensive and are housed in the clubhouse which was built back in 1994.There is a bar and lounge area for players to enjoy and relax in after their rounds as well as a modest dining area. There is also a well-stocked professional golf shop as well as bright and spacious locker rooms at the disposal of players. Finally there is a practice putting green upon which players can hone their skills.

As this is a private members club, tee times for visitors are very restricted and tend to fall sparsely at the beginning of the week. That said, if players book far enough in advance there should be a time to suit most. Green fee rates here may be seen by some as steep however they reflect the quality of the course and facilities as well as the exclusive nature of the club. However there are a number of discounts and offers available to play here at certain times.

The club is relatively easy to access from much of the rest of Ireland and the county of Wicklow lies close to the county of Dublin and transport links from there are obviously better. Accommodation options in and around the local area are plentiful and there should be something to appeal to most tastes and budgets.
