For those who love both horse racing as well as golf the unique golf course at Gowran Park is the ideal destination. Found in County Kilkenny towards the South east of Ireland, this complex combines the installations for these two sporting events effortlessly and makes this an ideal destinations for lovers of both. Obviously whilst the horses are running here, the golf course is closed, however why not make a weekend of it and enjoy all that Gowran Park has to offer?

Compared with the rest of the complex the golf course is relatively modern and was only opened in 2001. Designed by the well-known architect Jeff Howes the course is in a truly stunning setting and the nearby Blackstairs Mountains provide an excellent backdrop.

A par 71 course consisting of 18 holes it is of a parkland style and measures some 6110 metres from the yellow tees. Features of this course include well-maintained greens, a significant presence of mature woodland and a number of lakes and rivers which provide the perfect amount of a challenge.

As it is part of a much larger complex the facilities here are good and the course boasts its own clubhouse. Facilities include a well-appointed bar and restaurant area for players to enjoy after their rounds. There is also a well-stocked professional golf shops offering apparel from a number of international brands and there are modern and spacious shower and locker facilities at the disposal of players.

Tee time availability for visitors to this course is good and throughout the weekdays offer the best times as weekend time slots can be restricted. Green fee rates are fair here and players are sure to enjoy a good value for money round. Both tee times and green fee rates are subject to change throughout the seasons and prior booking is highly recommended so as to avoid disappointment.

The complex is well connected to much of the rest of Ireland by road and the capital Dublin is around 130km to the north of the site. Kilkenny is much closer and is only 13km away. Thanks to the popularity of the racecourse here there are a great variety of accommodation options for visitors to enjoy and they are sure to suit all needs, tastes and budgets.
