Located in the far south west of Ireland is the Glengarriff Golf Club and its associated golf course. The location of this site is truly beautiful as it is set amongst some stunning mountains and views over the nearby Garnish Island and Bantry Bay are plentiful. Found within the County of Cork the town of Bantry is nearby as is the border that the county shares with County Kerry and a number of natural heritage sites can also be found nearby.

The club here was founded in 1934 and has an interesting and diverse history spanning decades. The course is enveloped by ancient oak forests on three sides which are some of the oldest in Ireland and further add to the beauty of the course.

Often cited as one of the finest nine hole courses in the area the course here is of a parkland style. Measuring 2064 metres from the yellow tees for gentlemen this course has a par of 33. The course here may be somewhat short but it is diverse and players should expect undulating fairways and elevation changes. There are no par 5’s on this course however the par 3’s here can make or break anybody’s game so accuracy is essential.

Facilities at the club are fair and the clubhouse here was added to the complex in the 1970’s. Changing rooms with shower facilities as well as a fully licensed bar and light refreshments can be found within the club house and golf clubs can also be hired from here by prior arrangement. Practice facilities are good and include practice net and putting green upon which players can hone their skills.

Green fee rates are reasonable here and are fair value for money. A number of discounts and offers are available for play at certain times also. Tee time availability for visitors is generally good if they are willing to avoid peak times. The club is also proud to host a number of open competitions throughout the year for both members and visitors to enjoy.

The club is relatively easy to access from the local area although visitors from further afield may need to allow for significant time to reach here. That said, there are a number of accommodation options in and around the local area meaning that visitors will have no problem in finding somewhere to stay for a few nights.
