Located in the Central Northern area of Ireland near to a cluster of tranquil loughs is the luxurious Farnham Estate Hotel Golf and Spa Resort and its affiliated golf course. In County Cavan near to the border with Northern Ireland, the estate is the ultimate in tranquillity and relaxation and can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of their aptitude or liking of golf which makes this a perfect getaway retreat for all.
The golf course here is young by Irish standards and was opened in two stages. The front nine were opened in 2008 with the opening of the back nine happening a year later. The course here was designed by the popular Jeff Howes who has worked on a number of resort projects across Ireland including those at Fota Island and The Heritage Golf and Spa Resort.
Of a parkland style which regularly features on lists of the best in Ireland, the course here consists of 18 holes. This championship standard course measures some 5770 metres from the yellow tees and has a par of 72. The features of this course are extensive and it is laid out over a vast expanse of rolling countryside which, at times, is heavily wooded with mature trees. Bunkers are sparse throughout the course however those that are here are placed perfectly and a number of natural lakes and streams come in to play here also.
As it is part of a larger resort the facilities here are good and the course is well-equipped to meet the needs of its visitors. There are no less than five bars and restaurants within the resort which can be enjoyed by visitors here. Hire facilities here are very good also and players are able to rent out a variety of equipment to enhance their games.
Tee time availability for visitors to this course is very good and a suitable time should easily be found for all. Overall availability is more restricted at the weekend however, it is still good and fluctuations with regards to availability occur throughout the course of the seasons. Green fee rates for this course are excellent and offer great value for money, especially when you consider the quality of both the course, its facilities and the location.
Due to its central location, road links to the resort are quite good and visitors from across much of Ireland should have no problem in getting here. The most obvious accommodation option here is the resort hotel which has a wide selection of room options as well as a Spa and many fine dining options.

Average rating obtained byThis rating for Farnham Estate Golf Club. is the average of 5 ratings obtained from www.golfshake.comFor Time of year course greens in good condition. The White flag at the last hole felt quite apt, the course punishes wayward drives. Very hilly and good challenge. Very wet in places but that's the Time of year I guess. Very very good value for money 20euros. (Round played: Apr 2015 - Score: 99 Handicap: )
