Enniscrone Golf Club can be found in Enniscrone, County Sligo on the northwest coast of  Ireland, approximately 3 hours drive from Dublin, or 3.5 hours from Belfast.

The course was redesigned in 1970 by the Irish Eddie Hackett, a celebrated golf course architect and professional golfer, although the club first opened in 1918 with a shorter 9 hole course.

The Dunes course is a par 73 links championship course reaching over 7033 yards, which provides spectacular views looking out over dunes and the Atlantic Ocean. This course is accompanied by the shorter yet equally as impressive 9 hole Scurmore course.

Enniscrone golf course was designed to require the use of every club in the bag, yet makes allowances for players of all handicaps. To aid with preparing you for the course, the club has its own putting green, chipping green and practice area to allow you to acclimatise.

Green Fees remain very reasonable throughout the year at this club, and they offer both Sr. and Jr. caddies for hire in advance for a small fee, along with clubs, trolleys and buggies. The club has a bar, a restaurant and a pro shop inside the clubhouse, with many hotels a short distance away.

Enniscrone’s strong winds and frequent rains make the course ever more challenging, but they rarely prevent gameplay.

    Enniscrone The Dunes course

Having set the goal of playing all the 45 eighteen hole links courses in Ireland , I played Enniscrone numerous times but the last time I played it was May 2013 and it was as excellent as ever. A brilliant route, entering the massive dunes for the first few holes, then coming back out for a breather before going back in to tackle them again all the way to the finish. Might be wise to get a buggy particularly for the back nine. Huge diversity of holes some which you will love others which will beat you up and leave you humbled. The 16th Index 1 is a monster with the dunes to your right and the Atlantic to the left, is what links golf is all about. make the par of 4 and you will remember it forever. Retire to the club house and enjoy their special which was bacon and cabbage on our visit. A visit to Enniscorne is always a joy. Pat F

Brilliant golf course. I don't know why the course is not rated higher as it is clearly superior to many rated above it. I have played 70+ links courses in GB&I and this is in the top 10. It is both aesthetically stunning but also with solid design. The holes offer variety with some offering respite, particularly in the wind. The holes on the coast in the dunes are sensational. The back 9 is as good as Tralee's back 9, which in turn, is one of the very best 9 holes in Ireland. (6 handicap golfer)
