Lying within County Offaly to the east of central Ireland very close to the border the county shares with nearby County Kildare is the golf course at the Edenderry Golf Club. It lies to the north of the town of Edenderry itself and the local area is home to numerous other golf courses including those at Highfield Golf and Country Club and the Moyvalley Hotel and Golf Resort. Thanks to its somewhat central location, access to the club from much of the rest of Ireland is good.

The club here was founded back in 1910 and therefore recently celebrated its centenary, the club and course had quite a nomadic start to life and moved to many sites in the local area. However when it moved to its present location the course was laid out by the late, great Eddie Hackett and has remained here ever since.

Consisting of 18 holes, the course here stretches over a distance of 6011 metres and has a good par of 72. Features of the course are magnificent and Hackett’s use of natural features and the environment have helped to create a course which is playable all year round. Of a parkland style, expect plenty of mature trees and intelligently placed bunkers to help increase the challenge here. This should appeal to players of varying strengths and all are sure to find this an enjoyable challenge.

Edenderry Golf Club is proud to boast some excellent facilities for players to enjoy. There is a welcoming bar and restaurant area for players to enjoy after their rounds in which they are sure to receive a warm Irish welcome. The club is also home to a professional golf shop which stocks a good array of merchandise, equipment and apparel for players to purchase. There are also a number of hire items available by prior arrangement.

Green fee rates for visitors to this course are very reasonable and offer good value for money. Tee time availability for visitors here is also good and there should be a time to suit all visitors who are willing to avoid the peak times reserved by members such as weekend mornings. The club offers a number of discounts and special offers to play here at certain times of the year and these offer even better value for money.

Road links to the club are relatively good and visitors should have no problem in accessing here. Accommodation options are plentiful here and there should be something to suit the tastes and budgets of most visitors.
