Lying almost an equal distance away from the major cities of Belfast and Lisburn in the east of Northern Ireland is the golf course at the Dunmurry Golf Club. Within County Antrim, the club is perfectly situated to welcome visitors from both near and far and this is the ideal location for a golfing getaway as there are plenty of attractions and places of interest in and around the local area to appeal to visitors of all ages, golfer or not.

The history of the club dates back to the early 20th century, 1905 to be exact, which is when the club was originally formed. The course originally comprised of 9 holes however over the years a number of changes, adaptions and relocations of the course have occurred. The course and clubhouse as we know them today were opened in 1983 and have matured well ever since.

Of a parkland style, the course measures 5335 metres from the society tees with a par of 70. Players should expect all of the traditional features here including tree lined fairways and plenty of further trees which create hazard. There are a number of small tricky greens and elevated tees combined with well sculptured terrain which make for an interesting and exciting course that is sure to be enjoyed by players of varying skill levels.

The club has fair facilities for all and there is an extensive and welcoming restaurant area serving a variety of dishes for all to enjoy. There is also a modest bar area which offers some excellent views over the course as well as, of course, a well poured drink. The club is also home to a resident professional who offers a number of coaching and tuition options as well as a club repair service and a modest selection of equipment and apparel for purchase.

Visitors are warmly welcomed at Dunmurry however tee time availability is somewhat restricted. It is essential that visitors avoid the club competitions that run regularly throughout the week however the times of these vary so checking with the club office beforehand is highly recommended so as to avoid disappointment. Green fee rates here are reasonable and reflect the nature of both the course and facilities.

Due to its blessed location between Lisburn and Belfast, transport links to most of the country as well as nearby Ireland are good and players should have no trouble in getting here. Also, it means that there is a good selection of accommodation options in and around the local area which should appeal to most tastes and budgets.
