Found in some prime Irish countryside within County Galway in the West of Ireland is the golf course at the Cregmore Park Golf Club. Its countryside setting may lead people to believe that it is cut off however this is not the case and the bustling city centre of Galway is only around 10 minutes away by car. This blessed location makes this an excellent destination for a golfing break or getaway for those wanting to mix the sport they love with the cosmopolitan city vibe.
Opened for play in the summer of 2007 this course is very modern by Irish standards however this should not detract from its merits. It was designed by the famous Dr Arthur Spring who has worked on a number of courses throughout Ireland including those at the Roscrea and Beaufort golf clubs.
This course consists of 18 holes and is of a championship standard. This is a lovely example of a parkland style and it measures some 6475 metres with a par of 72. Features here are extensive and a number of natural lakes come into play on three of the eighteen holes. Here you will find plenty of trees, more than 3000 in fact, and there are over 80 bunkers here to provide a challenge. The terrain here is gently undulating and overall this is a very enjoyable course which can be played by golfers of most levels.
Facilities here are generally good and players will find an array of basic yet wholesome refreshments offered in the clubhouse. Equipment is also available for hire here and include club sets, buggies and trolleys. With regards to practice facilities the course has a large and floodlit driving range which players can use to hone their skills.
Tee times for visitors here have fair availability but prior booking is highly recommended so as to avoid disappointment. This is particularly the case with regards to weekend tee-time booking. Green fee rates here are very reasonable and offer good value for money for players.
Road links to the club are very good thanks to its proximity to Galway and from Galway onward transport links are extensive. Likewise, with regards to accommodation, there are a number of options within Galway itself which should appeal to most tastes and budgets.

Average rating obtained byThis rating for Cregmore Park. is the average of 2 ratings obtained from www.golfshake.comOk course but good value for money and a good test, quite open and does have a new feeling about the place. The staff were very friendly in the smallish wooden clubhouse. Played on a very windy day after a lot of rain but fairways stood up well and green ok.
