Near to the historical town of Trim in the east of Ireland is the County Meath Golf Club and its golf course. Home to Trim Castle, the local area has a number of attractions and places of interest for visitors and there are a number of fellow golf courses in the area making this a great destination for a golfing getaway. A local golf course of note is the one found at the well-appointed Knightsbrook Hotel and Golf Resort. The bustling capital, Dublin can be found around 40 minutes away by car to the southeast meaning that transport links here are good.

The club here was founded in 1898 and at the time was the only one to be operating within the county. Its history and story are interesting and the club has overcome many challenges in its life to become the excellent club that we see today. The club has played on a number of layouts at various locations throughout its life however the course as we know it today was laid out by the infamous Eddie Hackett and was opened for play in 1991.

This par 73 course measures some 6129 metres from the white tees and is of a parkland style. Expect high standard sand based greens combined with multi-tiered approaches and cleverly placed bunkers to create an interesting course. Fairways here have been designed to challenge and will require a good selection of shots to be played. Players of even the most advanced standards are sure to find this course a good challenge.

With regards to facilities, Co. Meath is well equipped to meet the needs of all. There is welcoming bar and restaurant area for all to enjoy and relax in after their rounds. There is also a resident club professional and practice facilities include a driving range upon which players can practice their swing. Buggies are also available to hire here and should help to facilitate play however it should be noted that there is only a limited number available at any one time.

Tee time availability for visitors to this course is fair although Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays tend to have the best availability. Green fee rates are very reasonable and offer good value for money. The club is also proud to host a number of open competitions throughout the year which can be enjoyed by members and visitors alike.

The club is well connected by road to much of the north and central parts of Ireland and its proximity to Dublin means that visitors from the nearby United Kingdom as well as further afield should have no problem in getting here. With regards to accommodation options there are a number of providers in and around the town of Trim encompassing everything from large hotels to small, cosy B&B’s
