County Cavan Golf Club and its associated golf course can be found towards the north of Ireland close to the border that the country shares with Northern Ireland. Oddly enough the course and club are found in the county of Cavan just north of the county town of the same name. The local area is home to a number of stunning natural loughs which are peaceful and serene and visitors here are sure to enjoy the quiet beauty that this area has to offer.

The golf club was founded originally in 1894 making it one of the oldest clubs in the country. It has a long and interesting history and over the years has seen a number of extensive works carried out on the course. The most notable designer to have worked on this course is perhaps the revered Dr Arthur Spring who has worked extensively on courses throughout Ireland.

Made up of 18 holes the course is of a parkland style. Measuring 5627 metres from the blue tees the course has a par of 70 and has a very traditional feel. Laid out on some fine Irish terrain, there is a good presence of mature trees here and water comes in to play on a number of the holes to provide an interesting and challenging course that is sure to test even the most skilled of golfers.

County Cavan Club is well equipped to meet the needs of all with regards to its facilities. The majestic clubhouse offers some fantastic views over the 18th hole and here you will find a bar and restaurant which can be enjoyed by all. Practice facilities at the club are good and there is a driving range featuring a number of covered and uncovered bays, there is also a putting and chipping practice area upon which players can hone their skills. Furthermore the club is home to a professional golf shop which is well-stocked with a variety of merchandise, equipment and apparel from a number of international brands.

Tee time availability for visitors here is very good and there should be a time to suit all if booked in advance. Obviously weekend availability is more restricted however it is still reasonable. Green fee rates for the course are good value for money and there are usually a number of discounts and offers available for play here at select times of the playing week and season.

The club is easily accessible from much of the central and northern areas of Ireland as well as from the nearby United Kingdom by road. There are a number of fair accommodation options in and around the local area which should suit most tastes and budgets.
