To the far south of Ireland in County Cork is the golf course at Cobh Golf Club. Found near to Cork Harbour the course here is very picturesque and the views that can be seen whilst playing here are simply stunning. Cork city centre is around 20 kilometres to the West of the site and there are a number of other golf courses in the area making this a great location for a golfing retreat. Just some of the nearby course include those at the luxurious Fota Island Resort as well as at the Cork and Harbour Point Golf Clubs.

Summer 2009 saw the full opening of this course making it a modern addition to the Irish golfing circuit. It was designed by the famed Hawtree Ltd which combines the knowledge and talents of a dynasty and whose works can be seen throughout much of Ireland.

This is an 18 hole course which is of a high championship standard. With a par of 72 the course measures just short of 5500 metres from the yellow tees. Features here combine to make a strong test for golfers of even the highest of levels. Expect elevated terrain and well-kept greens as well as water coming in to play on a number of the holes here.

Facilities at the club are fair and there are general amenities here for all. The club is home to its own professional who not only staffs the modest pro shop but also has a variety of equipment for hire and can give coaching and tuition to players by prior arrangement.

Tee time availability for visitors to this course is generally good and the best times for visitors is midweek. Weekend availability is more restricted however if visitors are willing to avoid peak times then this should not be a problem. Green fee rates here are very reasonable and offer good overall value for money. There are a number of discounts and offers available to play here also. The club is also proud to host a number of open competitions throughout the course of the year which can be enjoyed by members and visitors alike.

Thanks to its proximity with Cork, transport links to the course and club are good here from much of the rest of Ireland as well as the nearby United Kingdom. Accommodation options are also plentiful and there is sure to be something to appeal to most tastes and budgets.

A cracking test of golf for all levels I would think. The par 3s are some of the best I have played anywhere. The 10th hole an island green is a really special hole.
