Situated in the province of Munster towards the south of  Ireland is Clonmel Golf Club and its associated golf course. Found in County Tipperary, the nearby town that shares its name with the golf club is famed as the birthplace of one of the most prolific and popular cider brands in the world today,  Magners and it’s a guarantee that you will be able to sample at least one type of the beverage in the clubhouse after your round.

Founded in 1911 the golf club is one of the oldest in the area and the course was designed by the legendary  Eddie Hackett whose revered hands have worked on many projects throughout the country. This parkland style course is set in a stunning location and offers some truly fantastic views over the nearby River Suir as well as the serene countryside of both Tipperary and Waterford.

Measuring 5821 metres this Par 71 course has plenty to offer to players of all strengths and skill sets. Expect a strong presence of natural features on this course including numerous trees and woodland hazards.  Undulating fairways are also present and the only word that can be used to describe the wonderfully matured greens is testing! Water comes into play on a number of holes although it is usually in the form of quietly rushing streams which further add to the tranquil setting. A variety of local flora and fauna can also sometimes be viewed from the course and will further add to this already enjoyable yet challenging course.

Facilities at Clonmel are good and include a bar which offers an array of refreshments to players and is housed in the alpine-style clubhouse. Catering services can also be arranged with the club for those wanting to hire the clubhouse for functions. There are also full changing facilities at the disposal of players. Practice facilities at the club are ample and include a designated practice area which has its own regulations which must be adhered to by all players.

Tee times for visitors to this course have great availability and are well spread throughout the course of the day so there should be something to suit all schedules. Green fee rates offer great value for money making this a popular choice with many players in the nearby area. Some discounts and offers are also available for play here throughout the year especially for those in large groups or those that book last minute. A number of membership options are also available.

The club and course are both relatively well connected and the major city of Cork is only around an hour away by car. From there a number of connections to other locations in both Ireland and further afield are available. The capital  Dublin is around 2 hours away by car also. In terms of accommodation there are a number of options in and around the nearby area which should appeal to most.

This is without doubt the most spectacular course I have ever played. The 14th is a hole you wish to play again and again. If you are ever in Tipperary you must make time for Clonmel.
