Home to not one, but two excellent golf courses is the Clandeboye Golf Club which lies in County Down towards the east of Northern Ireland. The site lies just to the south of the town of Bangor and there are good general amenities in and around the local area for visiting players. The capital city of Belfast is just over half an hour to the west of the site and there is plenty for all to see and do here in the eclectic and vibrant capital city.
The foundations of the club date back to 1933 meaning this is somewhat of a “middle-aged” club within the country if such a thing can be said! There have been a number of different courses at the club over the years however there is now the popular Dufferin course and the equally enjoyable yet somewhat shorter Ava course.
Of a heathland style, the Dufferin course has seen a number of designers work on it over the years including Bernard von Limburger, Dave Thomas and Peter Alliss. Measuring just short of 6000 metres from the white tees with a par of 71 the course has a good amount of features to both challenge and entertain players. Bracken and gorse feature in abundance, as do mature trees and punishing fairways which combine to create this formidable course that will demand accuracy from players in order for them to shine.
Facilities at the club are fair and there is a well-appointed clubhouse which is the perfect destination for après-golf refreshment. There is both a bar and restaurant serving a good selection of both food and drink and all are sure to receive a warm and friendly welcome here. There is also a short game practice area at the club upon which players can polish up their skills or warm up before their rounds.
The Dufferin course is perhaps the more popular of the two courses here and therefore tee time availability is somewhat restricted for visitors although it is still fair. As the course is the more popular of the two the green fee rates reflect that however they are still very reasonable and offer fair value for money.
Thanks to its proximity to the capital, access to the club from both near and far is good and visitors from the rest of the United Kingdom as well as nearby Ireland should have no problem in getting here. There are a number of accommodation options in and around the local area which should appeal to most tastes and budgets.

Great course!10/06/2014this review is the subjective opinion of a GOLFBOO user and not of GOLFBOO S.LThe Dufferin course at Clandeboye was fantastic, excellent array of holes that will require thought as well as a diverse array of shots. The course itself was in excellent condition and was a pleasure to play on. It kept me on my toes and was just the right mixture of challenging and fun. I was very impressed by the green fee rate which was very good value considering the quality of the course and facilities. Highly recommended.
Average rating obtained byThis rating for Clandeboye Golf Club. is the average of 3 ratings obtained from www.top100golfcourses.co.ukThis is a nice course. There are some very nice holes, in great condition. Nice clubhouse and staff. For me sadly it didn't have the wow factor given its high rating. Holes 1 4 5 14 and 18 are well worth playing. Some of the rest I found not memorable. I will play this again, but top 10 in Northern Ireland, Im not sure.
