As the name suggests, the City of Derry Golf Club and its associated golf course can be found just outside of the city of the same name in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Lying in the far north west of the country it is nestled close to the border the country shares with nearby Ireland and is a perfect location for a golfing escape. Perched on the banks of the ebbing River Foyle the course is set overlooking some of the finest countryside that the country has to offer and is sure to be a treat for the eyes for all that play here.
The foundations of this club date back to 1911 and hence the club has recently celebrated its centenary with a number of festivities. Although the designer of the course remains uncredited from official sources it is clear to all that play here that this is a well-designed installation that has matured significantly over its lifetime.
Made up of 18 holes, the course is of a parkland style and measures some 5877 metres from the white tees with a par of 71 for gentlemen. The course is of a traditional parkland style and the features here are as to be expected, there is a strong presence of mature trees as well as nicely contoured terrain and intelligently placed bunkers and water features. Players should expect high quality greens and accuracy is a must here in order for all to do well.
With regards to facilities, they are generally fair here and there is sure to be everything that a modern golfer will need to enjoy their time here. The welcoming and friendly clubhouse is home to both a bar and restaurant for players to enjoy after their rounds in which all are sure to receive a warm and friendly welcome as well as a well poured drink and some good food. The club is also home to a modest pro shop offering a selection of equipment and apparel from a number of international brands.
Tee time availability for visitors to this course is generally fair and there is sure to be a time to suit all if arranged in advance. Weekend availability is obviously somewhat more restricted although still reasonable. Green fee rates for this course offer good value for money when you consider the quality of the course as well as the amazing views.
The club is well connected to much of the rest of the north of the country as well as nearby Ireland by road and the city of Derry has a number of strong onward links to elsewhere in the United Kingdom as well as the rest of Europe thanks to its airport. The city was named as the Inaugural City of Culture within the United Kingdom for the year 2013 meaning that accommodation options and places of interest here are plentiful.

Brilliant Course04/03/2015this review is the subjective opinion of a GOLFBOO user and not of GOLFBOO S.LCity of Derry is always in superb conditions. The greens are magnificent for long periods of the year. The fairways are lush all year round. Very scenic with well established trees and fabulous views over the River Foyle. A tight course which might not be for the faint hearted but even they will be glad they tried even the most difficult shots! Great welcome in the propshop and clubhouse.

Best value golf in Ireland04/03/2015this review is the subjective opinion of a GOLFBOO user and not of GOLFBOO S.LCity of Derry is a great parkland venue in the North West of Ireland. The fairways are lush (some of the best you will play on) and the greens run fast and true. The fairways are tree lined so accuracy is key. The day I played was a Wednesday and the green fee was only £13 for golf and food.
Average rating obtained byThis rating for City of Derry Golf Club. is the average of 1 ratings obtained from www.todaysgolfer.co.ukThe 18 hole course which we played last September was in fantastic condition, the fairways were lush, the greens fast and true. The course offered a great variety of holes, it tested every part of your game and the views of the River Foyle and rolling countryside topped off a great day out.
