The City of Belfast Golf Club is to be found just 8 miles from Belfast City Centre, just a 15 minute drive down the M2 motorway, all the local conveniences are easily accessible. There are lots of hotels nearby, and Belfast is a lovely city to visit if you enjoy sightseeing – Armagh Planetarium, or Belfast Zoo would be great places to visit with the family if you had a spare hour or two!

The City of Belfast Golf Club is considered to be one of the top golf courses in the country – although compact, it has just been developed to include a new feature hole. It describes itself as being ideal for all different golfers, with all levels of experience, but saying that, there are a number of water hazards to avoid - don´t think it´s all plain sailing!

It is a 5950 yard parkland course with 9 holes, and a par of 66. It was opened almost 25 years ago by the late Fred Daly. He was Ireland’s first man to win The Open in 1947, an accolade that remained unbeaten until almost 60 years later, when Padraig Harrington won in 2007, and 2008 . The course itself has a peaceful and calm atmosphere, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a short game after a long day at work, or after exploring the sights of Northern Ireland.

This club prides itself on offering cheap prices to make golf accessible to people from all walks of life, throughout the year – as a result their tee times and green fees are competitive and  great value for money:

  • Adults (aged 18-59) – Between £10 and £13 depending on the day.
  • Senior Citizens (aged 60+) – Between £7 and £13 depending on the day.
  • Juniors (aged under 18) – Between £6 and £8.

However, on Saturday mornings the tee box is closed until 12pm, as Saturday morning competitions are only open to paying members (although it must be added that a full membership is not expensive, definitely something to consider if you are staying for a while).
