Circolo Golf Torino - La Mandria - Blue (Blu) is one of Italy's most famous golf courses, based in the San Francesco al Campo area of the Piedmont region. It is still entrenched with British culture due to the club’s long history and tradition that began when the famous golf architect, John Morrison, designed the first 18 holes.  The philosophy of this great club has always been ‘everything is built around golf’ – there is no urban intrusion or obstacles to playing golf, so the surroundings are unspoilt and natural. This helps to encapsulate golf in it’s truest form and this is one of the reasons why the Italian Open was held there in 1999 - a fact that not many clubs can boast.

This course is filled with features to bring a smile to any keen golfer’s face:

  • 18 holes with a par of 72 that provide an enticing challenge for the players. It is surrounded by ancient trees with plenty of natural water hazards;
  • with a slope of 139/130 over a distance of 6050m, it creates the need for a very well-thought out game plan;
  • there are also many practice facilities to go through any golf drills or golf exercises that you need to improve your handicap. There is a driving range where you can spend time improving your golfswing with all the best golf clubs, which are available at the golf store. There is a putting green to practice your short game, where you can pick up some valuable putting tips which seemed to serve golf pro Francesco Molinari very well!

The weather in Piedmont is perfect for golf during the spring, summer and fall months, with plenty of sun and good temperatures. Golf can be played in the winter, however due to the mountainous location, there can be a lot of fog on some days during this period.

If you want to take time out from one of Italy's top golf courses then there are plenty of things to do to relax at Circolo Golf Torino - La Mandria - Blue (Blu):

  • you can sit down at the restaurant with a meal of traditional Italian food and a glass of wine where the atmosphere is extremely welcoming. This is a perfect way to switch off after the golf – and with Piedmont being famous for their wine and truffles, you can’t say no;
  • or you can visit the outdoor pool for a refreshing dip to relax before you head back to one of the 7 partner hotels that work with the golf club, that really add that little bit extra of luxury to your trip!

    THE golf course in the vicinity of Turin, it is a bit overshadowed by its neighbour, the Royal Park course of Italian Open fame. Two 18 holes courses are available, the Blue and the Yellow ( the scorecard refers to the blue course, which is the elder of the two). built on wooded parkland, it manages to remain enjoyable even when it's punishing, mostly because it is very often possible to recover...at a price. Lenght is enough to make it challenging even to long-hitting players, at a bit more than 6600 yards in all from the yellow tees.Highly recommended
