Located in County Antrim in the east of Northern Ireland is the golf course at the Castlereagh Hills Golf Club.  The site lies just outside of the bustling capital city of Belfast and is easily reached by both car and public transport. Belfast is a must visit for visitors of all ages and there are a number of attractions and places of interest including Belfast Zoo and the Titanic Quarter which is so named as it was were the fated vessel was built back in the early 20th century.

This club is relatively modern by Irish standards and was only founded in 1983 however since then, member numbers have grown well and this has become a much loved installation. The course here is often cited as a hidden gem within the country and was designed by David Jones who has worked on a number of courses across the world in countries from Turkey to Tanzania.

Of the much loved parkland style the course is made up of 18 holes and measures just under 4865 metres from the white tees with a par of 68.  Features here are very traditional and include a number of water hazards and mature trees dotted throughout the course. The signature hole here is the seventh which is played over a meandering stream and a picturesque bridge.  Players of varying skill levels are sure to enjoy their time here as this is a good course with a fair amount of challenge for all.

Facilities at this club are excellent and the modern clubhouse is well-appointed to meet the needs of all visitors. There is a restaurant for all to enjoy after their rounds and there is a conference suite which is ideal for meetings and events. The club is also home to a well-stocked professional golf shop and the club’s professional is always on hand to offer help, advice and assistance. Clubs and buggies are also available to hire from here.

Visitors are warmly welcomed at this club and tee time availability is generally fair for all, although prior booking is highly recommended so as to avoid disappointment. Green fee rates are very reasonable here and offer good value for money for a course of this calibre.

Thanks to its proximity with the capital getting to the rest of the country as well as nearby Ireland could not be easier. Onward links to the rest of the United Kingdom and further afield are also strong. There are a number of accommodation options in and around the local area which should appeal to most tastes and budgets also.

A solid course. Shortish in length but the new design on 2 and 8 have improved overall quality. (Round played: Sep 2016 - Score: 78 Handicap: 19.4)
