Lying towards the North of the  Dingle Peninsula in the South West of  Ireland is the golf course at Castlegregory Golf Club. This course is in an incredible location and offers views of the nearby Lough Gill and Brandon Bay. Tranquil and serene are just some words that can be used to describe this course which is near to the county town of Tralee in County Kerry.

There has been golf played on or near to the site for many decades however the club and course as we know it was opened in 1989. The duo of  Dr Arthur Spring and Michael O’Shea are credited with the creation of this magnificent example of a links course. Although at present the course consists of 9 holes the ambitions for the future are to extend it to a full 18 holes although for now the club still boasts good member and visitor numbers.

Its nine holes measure 2529 metres from the white tees and have a par of 34. Players here can enjoy either 9 holes or the full 18 depending on availability. The surrounding natural environment plays an important role in this course and its tough yet refreshing nature. The course is often cited as one of the best 9 holes in Ireland and it is easy to see why, the stunning scenery and almost perfect condition of the course make for a brilliant combination that can be a test for even the most experienced of players.

The facilities at Castlegregory are as to be expected and full amenities can be found here. Tee times for visitors to this course are generally good and the green fee rates here offer exceptional value for money for all. Due to the great green fee rates this is a popular choice for many who want to enjoy the sport they love without having to break the bank and also for those that are new to the sport and don’t want to spend too much.

Location wise the course is relatively secluded at first glance which makes the perfect location for a links course however it can be time consuming to visit here from locations further afield. However it is less than a half hour drive from both Tralee and Dingle making it a good choice for locals or people visiting the area for a period of time. There are a handful of hotels in the local area that can provide a fair selection of options for visitors.
