Situated in the West of Ireland within County Mayo is the golf course at the Castlebar Golf Club. It is found in an area which is dominated by Natural Heritage Areas and loughs meaning that the setting of this course is very picturesque and tranquil. The cities of Sligo and Galway are just over an hour away from the site to the north and south respectively and both have some excellent attractions and places of interest for visitors to enjoy.

The club here was founded in 1910 and has undergone many changes and transformations since it first opened its doors. The original course here was sparse and basic however, over time, the course has been developed to perfection.

Of a parkland style, this 18 hole course has a par of 71 and measures some 5400 metres from the yellow tees. Features of this course are extensive and sand based greens and tees come as standard here. A significant presence of mature trees also adds to the challenge here and variety is the key word when talking about the holes here. Overall this is a unique and enjoyable course which can be enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels.

Facilities at this club are extensive and include a full bar and catering service for players to enjoy after their rounds. Also, there is a well-stocked professional golf shop offering a variety of apparel and equipment. Changing facilities can also be found here and include showers and lockers for players to use. Practice facilities are also good here and there is both a practice putting green and chipping green upon which players can hone their skills.

Tee time availability for visitors here is fair and there should be a time suitable for all if booked far enough in advance. Green fee rates are also reasonable and players are sure to find this course offers good overall value for money.

Getting to the club is relatively straightforward from much of the rest of Ireland and road links to Sligo and Galway are good. From both of which, onward transport links are strong. Accommodation options in and around the local area are fair and there should be something to suit most tastes and budgets.
