Found conveniently in the middle of County Offaly in Central Eastern Ireland is the Castle Barna Golf Club and golf course. The nearby town of Tullamore has plenty of attractions and places of interest which visitors can enjoy including a heritage centre and Charleville Castle which has played host to an episode of the infamous Living TV programme, Most Haunted. The town is also known as the birthplace of Tullamore Dew whiskey which was first distilled in the town and although production now takes place elsewhere in Ireland it remains the town’s greatest export.

The course was opened in 1993 and throughout the years has played host to a number of tournaments and competitions. Its central location within Ireland has made it one of the most popular clubs in the Midlands and it is easy to see why once you have played here.

Consisting of 18 holes the course is of a mature parkland style and measures 5536 from the white tees with a par of 72. This course has matured beautifully since its opening more than twenty years ago and the features here complement this maturity excellently. Rolling greens and terrains are patterned by natural streams and bunkers. Expect an enjoyable and picturesque course which isn’t without its fair share of challenges.

Facilities at the club are good and the club prides itself on its warmth and hospitality it offers to all that visit and play here. There is The Old Stone House Bar and Restaurant at the club which can provide players with an excellent selection of refreshments to enjoy after their rounds.  Clubs, buggies and trolleys are also available for hire here.

Tee times for visitors to this club have good general availability and are dispersed well throughout the day and week. Weekend availability however is somewhat restricted. Green fee rates for this course are very reasonable and represent good value for money.

Due to its near central location within Ireland the links to the rest of the country by road from and to this club are good. Dublin is almost directly 96 km to the East of the course and international transport links from there are excellent.  The club has a number of well-established links with local accommodation providers which allows visitors to “play and stay” and there are a number of packages and offers available for this.
